david wickers About us

David Wickers, editor

On three occasions David was voted Travel Writer of the Year, and in 2009 he received the Award for Outstanding Contribution at the Travel Press Awards. His 17 years as Chief Travel Correspondent for The Sunday Times, coupled with his ongoing role as Travel Editor on Good Housekeeping puts him in a strong position to appreciate the very best in travel. A short break, he believes, is an ideal way to escape your routine and enjoy a variety of travel experiences without eating into official holiday allowances. His personal favourites include all the premier league Italian cities including Venice and Rome, plus Istanbul, Marrakech, boating on UK waterways and the coast of Suffolk, cycling in Catalonia and doing very little in a classy hotel.

catherine leech 11 About us

Catherine Leech, director

Catherine’s many roles in the travel industry have included PR director, tourist board head, tour operator, online travel presenter and tourism advisor. Almost as well travelled as David and Mark, she’s a Caribbean aficionado and a huge fan of Sri Lanka. But for all that long-haul travel, she believes in the power of short breaks to revitalise and refresh. Her advice: “Treat the journey as part of the break, minimise the packing, switch off the iPhone/Blackberry, do your research before you go but don’t over-plan.” Catherine’s favourite short break destinations include Barcelona, Bath and Istanbul. Her wishlist: Sweden’s Ice Hotel, Cairo, Florence and the Isles of Scilly.
