101 Short Breaks

Out of season French Riviera

Mark and David's verdict

Although most people now choose July and August for holidays in the Mediterranean, the wealthy Victorians, who first made the French Riviera fashionable, only went during winter. These off season months can be delightful – great weather, low prices and no crowds.

Dominique’s Villas says

Before and after the busier months of July and August, Provence and the Côte d’Azur are idyllic spots for a short break, with the most dependable temperatures in France. Enjoy the softer light of the spring and autumn, the absence of traffic jams on the spectacular coastal roads and lack of queues at restaurants and beach cafés.

We have a wide selection of properties to choose from, ranging from large restored ‘mas’ with heated pools to village houses, such as Maison Vignes, located in the heart of Roussillon, one of the most sought-after and attractive villages of the Luberon.

Maison Vignes is a tastefully restored village house made of local orange stone. It has a spacious living area, a charming kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a small private heated pool set in an enclosed courtyard with a terrace overlooking stunning countryside. It has an allocated parking area next to the market square, and the bakeries, grocers, cafés and restaurants of Roussillon are just 100m from the house.

The villa can be rented for a minimum of 4 nights starting any day of the week. As a guideline, the price for 4 nights is £950 for 6 persons including pool heating.
