101 Short Breaks

Sleep on a luxury yacht

Our verdict

Play at being captain on your own floating gin palace for the weekend. Rather than stay in a holiday cottage or apartment, you can spend your nights afloat on a boat, securely tethered in a marina with all the facilities you need, including hook ups for electricity. Three West Country locations are on offer, but we’re confident there'll be more.

Stays Afloat says

Hiring one of our boats is a bit like hiring a holiday cottage but with the added romance of being afloat. Whether you choose a 46ft ocean-going sailing yacht or a 42ft luxury motor cruiser complete with circular bed, you will stay on the marina mooring throughout.

Our year-round choice of locations - the fishing port of Brixham, charming Dartmouth harbour at the mouth of the River Dart and the seaside resort of Torquay - each has a stunning marina, with the shops, restaurants, pubs and other attractions just a stroll away. And if you fancy getting out on the water, you can hire a smaller boat locally.

Each of our boats is hooked up to the marina’s mains electric feed and has at least one head and shower, cooking facilities, TV and heating. Bedding and a welcome food pack are provided and you can also use the marina’s facilities if you wish. Most of the yachts and cruisers we offer sleep up to six people. Children are welcome but under strict adult supervision; they should wear life jackets on deck and on the pontoon.

Of course, it goes without saying that every boat has a sea view.
